Year End 2022

As 2022 ends and the season of giving begins, we would like to share with you the impact our donors, volunteers, fosters, and staff made last year. In 2021, the Humane Society of Forsyth County was able to save 802 animals. Our Pet Food Pantry, which provides food and cat litter to families in need, fed over 1,000 animals monthly; through SNAP, we were able to spay/neuter 1,572 animals, our low-cost vaccine clinic saw over 3,291 patients, and with the help of our amazing fosters, we housed 647 animals in foster care. With your help, HSFC was able to assist over 6,000 animals in the Forsyth County area in 2021. All of this wouldn't be possible without YOU. This holiday season, we are asking that you keep the animals of the Humane Society of Forsyth County in mind.

Abandoned by her previous owner, Buttercup was surrendered back into our care severely overweight in October of 2021. At 18.8 lbs with matted, messy fur she stood little chance of a long and happy life. Our team worked quickly put her on a diet and thus, Buttercup's weight loss journey began. In order to achieve optimal results, the treatment plan consisted of prescription weight loss food, daily exercise monitored by shelter staff, and weekly weigh-ins to check her progress. Buttercup took to the treatment quickly and even started to enjoy her daily exercise. The shelter staff began tracking her progress on our social media where she gained a substantial fanbase who cheered her on from the sidelines.

With your help, we were able to get Buttercup the help she needed. She has since been adopted into a loving home where they continue her treatment. As of September 10, 2022 Buttercup weighed 15 lbs, which is about 20% of her previous body weight.

Because of people like you, we were also able to help Jeff & Mutt. Last year, one of our partnering rescue resources reached out to us regarding urgent placement for two injured puppies, which they believed had sustained broken legs from a suspected animal bite. We immediately arranged to get the puppies over to our facility for examination. Both puppies were extremely dehydrated with badly infected wounds and swollen limbs so we immediately started fluids, prescribed a course of antibiotics, and scheduled x-rays. We were startled to learn that upon further examination the two puppies had been shot with a BB gun, and the pellets were still lodged inside. We will never know what circumstances surrounded the events that caused the injuries that these sweet puppies endured other than it was at the hands of a human being. As a result of the damage caused by the BBs, both puppies now have permanent injuries, however we were able to minimize the long term effects and find them their loving forever homes where they both now live happy, healthy, and full lives.

Any amount given will significantly impact the amount of support and care we can give animals like Buttercup, Mutt, & Jeff in 2023.
